DESCRIPTION OF RACE

The KrisFlyer International Sprint (1200m) is the sister sprint race to Singapore’s jewel in the crown, the Singapore Airlines International Cup (2000m), with both taking place on the same night in mid-May.

First launched in 2001 as the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Sprint, the race is open to three-year-olds and upwards. The S$1 million race was however interrupted between 2003 and 2007 before it was re-introduced in 2008 under its current name.

With its growing reputation as a hot venue drawing stellar international names such as Takeover Target (winner in 2008), Sacred Kingdom (winner in 2009), Green Birdie, Happy Zero as well as local stars such as Rocket Man, Waikato and Superb Effect,
the KrisFlyer International Sprint was deservedly upgraded to International Group 1 level in 2009 and first run with this status the following year.

In 2011 the locals dominated the event, the first five home being Singaporean trained with Rocket Man pulling
out a 4.75 length winning margin.
