DESCRIPTION OF RACE

The Darley July Cup is run on Newmarket’s beautiful and atmospheric summer racecourse, the July Course. It is the highlight of the three-day Newmarket July Festival and is run on the meeting’s final day.

The six furlong (1200 metres) course is entirely straight with some undulations and an uphill climb in the final furlong to the winning post.

The maximum field size is 20 runners plus two reserves (if necessary, balloting will be done according to international ratings).
